Nicholas Bell was born of Thomas Bell a local doctor in the community of Harrisburg, PA. He married
a Veronica Fox. They had three children Jack, Robert, and John. Nicholas was born in PA but at the age of 10 he
went to live with his grandmother-Cassandra. At the time the Civil War broke out Nicholas was only 20 years old and he enlisted
in the Confederate Army. Due to the fact that his family in south had connections he was given the commission and rank of
a 2nd Lieutenant in the 1st Alabama Regiment. He would serve the regiment eventually rising to the rank of a Lieutenant
Colonel by the end of the war. After the war his grandfather left him the plantation fields. Nicholas went back to Alabama
to run the land. One day a former slave of his grandfather's shot and killed him.
